Volunteering for SISA Minimize

SISA is looking for volunteers to assist with:

Singapore National Figure Skating Competition:  We need volunteers in organizing the Nationals.  We would like to put together a committee to assist in ice time bookings for the competition, marketing, registration, set-up and other logistics, co-ordination of judges & officials, monitoring practice sessions, assistance with the running of the competition and other tasks associated with organizing and running the Nationals.

Exhibitions / Performances:  We would like to organize a non-competitive exhibition / performance during the holiday season (or other times deemed appropriate).  This provides both recreational and competitive skaters an opportunity to perform in front of an audience and to showcase their skills. Similar to the Nationals, we would like to put together a committee to assist in ice time bookings, marketing, registration, set-up and other logistics, monitoring practice sessions, assistance with the Exhibition/Performance on the day of and other tasks associated with organizing and running it.  This committee will get together to brainstorm on the type of exhibition/performance (theme), when to schedule it and overall programming.

SISA Tests:  We need volunteers in organizing the Tests for the various levels.  Going forward, there will be regular tests for our skaters to advance.  We need a committee to schedule these tests based on review of the various school calendars, booking ice time, organizing judges for testing, organizing skaters and practice times, organizing the overall schedule for the test date and communication of the tests to the skating community.

Seminars/Workshops:  We have several opportunities to work with world class coaches who have contacted SISA in their interest to run a Seminar / Workshop in Singapore.  Specifically, we have a coach who has trained an Olympic Gold Medal winner who is keen to come to Singapore for a workshop.  We would like to set up a committee who can evaluate these opportunities and to organize these workshops.  The costs of these workshops can be high so we need to evaluate the opportunity from a cost recovery stand point.  We need assistance in applying for grants from SSC/ISU when these opportunities arise.

Fund Raising: SISA is a non profit organization.  We get very limited funding from the SSC to run our organization and our events.  We would like to have a committee focused on fundraising for specific events and targeting sponsors for programs/workshops and events.  For example, last year, SISA did not obtain any funding from SSC to run the Figure Skating Nationals.  Funding came solely from skater registration, private donations and dipping into SISA reserves.  If you have contacts in the business community or can assist SISA in identifying sponsors for these events, it would help cover costs and provide for a much better competition.  If you have experience in fundraising, your assistance and guidance can help steer the committee in identifying the right corporate / private individual sponsors to help fund a skating exhibition/performance or other events. Sponsorship is also required to subsidize costs of workshops and seminars.
